Humayun Tomb and the most famous visiting site and major historical site in India and one of the best places to visit in Delhi. Humayun tomb is also the UNESCO World Heritage Site and it is the tomb of the famous Mughal Emperor Humayun and this structure also known as the Maqbara-e- Humayun. This tomb was commissioned by the Humayun’s first wife who was his chief consort as well in 1569-70. This beautiful piece of art was designed by Mirak Mirza Ghiyas and his son, Sayyid Muhammad a Persian architect invited by Humayun’s wife herself.

Humayun’s tom was declared as the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. Since then it has gone under a process of extensive restoration which is complete. The complex holds the main tomb of Humayun, which keeps the graves of Empress Bega Begum, Hamida Begum, and also Dara Shikoh, great-great-grandson of Humayun and of the later Emperor Shah Jahan’s son as well as other numerous other subsequent Mughals.
There are various monuments on the path of the main entrance in the west include one that built on a prior note to the main tomb. Humayun Tomb Delhi is the first garden-tomb found in the Indian subcontinent and it is placed very close to the Dina-Panah fort.

The Architecture and design of the Tomb
The construction of Humayun tomb delhi was started in 1565 and completed in 1572. The main tomb took almost eight years to build and it was placed into the centre of char Bagh a beautiful Persian style garden with a quadrilateral design that is spread in 30 acres. Humayun’s tomb is made with red stone and white marble and the height of the tomb is 47 meters and it is 91 meters wide.
Being an important historical site Humayun’s Tomb is maintained by the ASI (Archaeological Survey of India). This amazing garden and tomb is the first substantial example of Persian style Mughal architectures in India. You can reach there by metro, taxi, and auto. On the yellow line, Jor bagh metro station is the nearest metro station and JLN metro station on the violet line is also one of the nearest metro stations.
Humayun Tomb Timing & Entry Fee
Humayun Tomb Timing: Humayun’s Tomb is open every day from sunrise to sunset, which is generally between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. The monument remains closed on Fridays.
Humayun Tomb Entry Fee: The entry fee for Indian nationals is INR 40 per person, and for foreign nationals, it is INR 600 per person. The entry fee for children up to the age of 15 years is free.
Additional Fees: If you want to take your camera inside the monument, you will have to pay a camera fee of INR 25 for still photography and INR 200 for videography. There is also an additional fee of INR 25 for carrying a mobile phone camera inside the monument.

How to Reach: Humayun’s Tomb is located in the heart of Delhi and is easily accessible by road, rail, and metro. The nearest metro station is the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Metro Station, which is on the Violet Line of the Delhi Metro.
