The Great Himalayan National Park is one of the most beautiful national parks in India, which is located in the Kullu region in the Himachal Pradesh state. The Himalayan National Park is a habitat of uncountable flora and more than 375 species of fauna. This National Park is also a home for approx 31 mammals, 181 birds, 3 reptiles, 9 amphibians, 11 annelids, 17 mollusks, and 127 insects.

In previous times the footfall of tourists at Great Himalayan National Park was just 1000 to 1500 in a year, and it was not that popular among the travelers and tourists. But when this place was added as World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2014, it became popular worldwide. UNESCO granted the status to the park for its outstanding significance for biodiversity conservation. In 1994 5 km far from the park’s western boundary, the area of 256 km was relocated as a buffer zone or ecozone.

The buffer zone of the Himalayan national park houses 2300 households in 160 villages. One more exciting thing about the park is the authorities have decided that the area of the park will remain roadless. That is why, even today, what you are finding here is in the most untouched, untamed form of nature.

These species are highly protected and Himachal Pradesh Govt has banned hunting in the state for more than 10 years.
