Raj Ghat is a dedicated memorial site of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and the most important landmark for Indians. Originally this name was used for a historic rajghat in Old Delhi (Shahjahanabad) situated on the banks of Yamuna River. The East side of Darya ganj was used to be the
Raj ghat Gate of the walled city and opens to Rajghat later the memorial site also called Rajghat. There is a memorial place of the Black marble platform where Mahatma Gandhi cremation happened on 31 January 1948.

Raj ghat is located at Mahatma Gandhi Road or Ring road in Delhi and this is one of the best places to visit in Delhi with family and friends. The place left open to the sky and an eternal flame burns at the end. There is a stone footpath that leads to the walled enclosure which is a pathway that helps visitors and guests to reach the memorial site. This place is a memorial of divine spirits so guests must remove their footwear before entering the walls of the Raj Ghat.

There are various memorials sites of other famous leaders of India like Jawaharlal Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Indira Gandhi, Jagjivan Ram, Rajiv Gandhi, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, etc. Alick Percy-Lancaster was behind the landscaping and construction of the memorials and he was the last man to hold the Superintendent post of Horticultural Operations, Government of India.
